While it's not typically as warm as South Florida in winter months, it is usually drier and sunnier. The Phoenix area including Scottsdale and Mesa is referred to as the "Valley of the Sun". Tucson, although further south, is at a higher elevation and tends to be a few degrees cooler than Phoenix.
